OUR SANCTUARY

Those who have not seen St. John’s, will find classic architecture with a vaulted dark wood beamed ceiling, wood paneling and light plaster walls. Its grandeur is accentuated by the large stained glass windows, described as “some of the finest west of the Mississippi.” The setting communicates dignity, intimacy and God’s glory. St. John’s is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

OUR CHAPEL

Our chapel is available for smaller and intimate weddings. The chapel receives wonderful, natural light through its many windows and newly restored stained glass window.

OUR FACILITY

In addition to the sanctuary, the church provides a comfortable room (the Fireside Room) in which to relax prior to the ceremony. You may have refreshments in the Fireside Room for an extra clean-up fee. Prior arrangement must be made with the church office. This room is also suitable for pictures.

There are adequate bathrooms for changing and a women’s changing room with a full length mirror. The changing room can be locked to secure any valuables or gifts during the ceremony. St. John’s is not responsible for valuables and clothing brought to the church. St. John’s is completely accessible to those with physical challenges, including two restrooms.

Our main floor is available to the wedding party for three hours on the wedding day and one hour for the rehearsal. The St. John’s staff request that you and your guests consciously honor the contracted times.

RECEPTION

St. John’s has two reception halls. For fees, availability and restrictions, please request information from the church office.

PARKING

A free parking area can be found three blocks north of the church in the Presidio. A 140-space parking garage is available for free all day on weekends, one block east of the church at 460 Cherry Street. There are two nearby handicapped spaces. A “white area” in the front of the church is available for drop-off or for a waiting limousine. There is a fair amount of on-street parking east of the church. As an added precaution, you may suggest in your invitation that guests plan to arrive early enough in case an event near the church makes parking two or three blocks away necessary. However, we have not found parking a problem, even for very large weddings.

OUR HISTORIC ORGAN

Our Johnson Organ was built in Massachusetts, transported around Cape Horn and installed in 1872. Its refurbishment was completed in 1999. Use of the organ is included in the reservation of the sanctuary.

GRAND PIANO

St. John’s is proud to make available our new Steinway Concert Grand Piano for your wedding. This beautiful instrument may only be played by a competent musician. Use of the piano is included in the reservation of the sanctuary.

FEES

Wedding fee (Sanctuary): $1,400.00 (Includes facility deposit).
Wedding fee (Chapel): $650 (Includes facility deposit). Chapel seating is for 30-40 persons.

Fee includes:

• Church coordinator (required)
• Use of sanctuary and dressing/waiting rooms for 2 1/2 hours on the day of the wedding ceremony and one hour for rehearsal
• Use of the organ and piano are also included in this fee.

The above fee does not include musicians or clergy fees. Please contact them separately for their fees.

CANCELLATION AND CHANGES

If a cancellation is made after confirmation, the security deposit and the facility deposit minus a pro-rated fee will be returned. If cancellation is made less than six months prior to the wedding date, only the security deposit will be returned. Requests for changes to the wedding or rehearsal times or dates must be made in writing to the church office and will be accommodated based on availability.
